Attitude: Definition

Each month we define and discuss a word of character development with all of our students. 

This month the word is Attitude.  It will be defined this way.

 

 

Young students: Attitude means “How I feel, how I think and how I act.”

Older students: Attitude means:  How you feel, think and act in the face of everyday events and obstacles.

Focus: Definition

Each month we define and discuss a word of character development with all of our students.  This month the word is Focus.  It will be defined this way.

Young students: Focus means “I look and listen to one thing at a time.”

Older students: Focus means:  Using laser-like concentration even when there are distractions.

Sportsmanship: Definition

Each month we define and discuss a word of character development with all of our students.  This month the word is Sportsmanship.  It will be defined this way.

Young students: Sportsmanship means “I am fair and kind whether I win or lose.”

Older students: Sportsmanship means:  Respecting the rules and the spirit of competition.

Young students:  “Showing kindness in everything I say and do!”

Older students:  Manners means:  Words and behaviors that show respect for other people.

Anger Management: Definitions

Each month we define and discuss a word of character development with all of our students.  This month the word is Anger Management.  It will be defined this way.

Young students:  Anger management means: “I calm myself down when I feel angry!”

Older students:  Anger management means:  Dealing with anger in a safe, fair, and positive way.

Young students:  Self Control means: “I stop and think before I act!”

Older students:  Self Control means:  Slowing down and thinking through choices before acting upon them.
